Ley Chapel at the Pilgrim Center | Green Lake, WI

Beginning on one of the coldest Januarys on record, Ganther began work in January 2009 to demolish and build a new chapel that was to be completed by June 14 in time for the Muscular Dystrophy Association Camp. The architectural team worked closely with the building committee to create a new structure that would provide ample worship and meeting space for guests to experience God and learn more about their own faith journey. Ganther was also asked to make the building as sustainable and energy efficient as possible and take advantage of the beautiful Green Lake setting. The new chapel features three massive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Green Lake and the wooded area around Vesper Point. It has operating skylights and windows to allow lake breezes through the sanctuary. Windows feature a UV coating to reduce heat transfer to the indoor space. Walls have two types of insulation for an airtight shell and a geothermal loop system was installed.
